Jubilee Cancel Debt Fast Needs Your Voice! October 1st, 2007
The Jubilee 40-Day Rolling Fast to cancel the debt of low-income countries will end with a Prayer Breakfast and Lobby Day in Washington, D.C. on Tuesday, October 16. The campaign is working to gain passage of the Jubilee Act (H.R. 2634) which calls on the U.S. government to press for debt cancellation of money owed to the World Bank and the IMF for low-income countries not covered by the 2005 G-8 debt deal. Twenty additional countries desperately in need of debt cancellation would benefit from this legislation.

Get Your Hands Dirty for Africa is a toolkit developed with the intention of providing leaders with a myriad of possible avenues for educating and mobilizing the Christian community to respond to current needs in Africa. Walking With the Peoples of Africa, produced by The Catholic Task Force on Africa, of which AFJN is a long-time member, offers a resource packet that provides information and action suggestions on issues of major importance to Africa today. It accompanies the U.S. Catholic Bishops’ Statement, “A Call to Solidarity with Africa,” and is designed for parishes, social justice groups, high schools, colleges and all those who wish to engage themselves more directly in advocacy for Africa. Vulture Fund Wins $15 million from Zambia April 25th, 2007
Jubilee USA Debt campaign urges Congress, President Bush to Take Immediate Action
Tuesday, April 24, 2007 — Today at the UK Royal Court of Justice in London, a judge ruled that Zambia must pay $15.4 million plus a yet to be determined share of legal costs to Donegal International, a vulture fund that had sued Zambia for more than $50 million.
Debt Relief in Zambia: A Report from Jubilee USA March 1st, 2007
A Jubilee USA delegation traveled to Zambia in January to see the impact of recent debt relief in that country. Members of that delegation were in neighboring Kenya for the World Social Forum in January. They compiled a trip report outlining their observations. Excerpts of the report are given below.
