Oblate JPIC Signs Letter in Support of Bill to Prevent Genocide and Atrocities
February 29th, 2016
The Missionary Oblates JPIC office has joined more than sixty organizations in support of the Genocide and Atrocities Prevention Act, S.2551, which has been introduced in the United States Senate. This bipartisan bill if passed will enhance the ability of the U.S. to prevent genocide and mass atrocities. The Act will help identify early warning signs of genocide, fund early warning programs, and increase the odds that when people are at risk of mass atrocities, our leaders will know and be ready to respond. Recent historical events around the world are a reminder of the consequences of failing to prevent genocide and atrocities.
