Access to Health
HIV/AIDS, TB and malaria continue to pose public health risks for millions of people in developing nations. Neglected diseases such as Leishmaniasis and Human African Trypanosomiasis (HAT), also known as sleeping sickness, maim or kill millions for lack of effective pharmaceuticals.
Along with other ICCR members, we believe that every person has a human right to health. We call for domestic health care reform to cover the uninsured and to improve workers’ health care policies. We engage corporations to address the HIV/AIDS pandemic – something that is in their own economic interest. We press pharmaceutical companies for greater research and development of drugs for neglected diseases and for equitable pricing of essential medicines.
