UN Sustainable Development Goals: 2015-2030

OMI and Vivat International are recognized as Civil Society Organizations (CSOs) by the United Nations. We Oblates are also members of the Justice Coalition of Religious.

As Faith-Based Organizations (FBOs), we Oblates with the whole Mazenodian Family with other people of faith want to be part of bringing justice to the heat of global transformation.

The Sustainable Development Goals are the blueprint to achieve a better and more sustainable future for all. They address the global challenges we face, including those related to poverty, inequality, climate change, environmental degradation, peace and justice. The 17 Goals are all interconnected, and in order to leave no one behind, it is important that we achieve them all by 2030.

Saint Pope John Paul II, Pope Benedict and Pope Francis have all praised and encouraged every effort to achieve the SDGs, not because they are perfect or all-inclusive, but because achieving them brings hope for a better future, especially for those living in extreme poverty and those left behind.

We propose to bring you more detailed information about each one of the 17 sustainable development goals. Also, it is our hope that many of you will share with us your efforts, big and small, that help achieve these goals.

Governments at all levels, of course, must do their part. But, in the end, it is we the people who will achieve the sustainable development goals – OR NOT!
