OMI Bangladesh Hosts Christmas Celebration for Domestic Migrants December 22nd, 2025

A spiritual preparation for the Christmas celebration took place at Modonpur Credit center for domestic migrants, working in different factories. We had a really good program for our migrant brothers and sisters, offering confession and Holy Mass.

The Dhaka Archdiocese invited OMI Bangladesh to provide pastoral care for domestic migrants in the Dhaka-Narayangoan areas. Oblates agreed to lead this new ministry that will work with the migrants, most of whom are Indigenous. OMI Bangladesh is currently searching for someone to oversee this new mission and ministry. The Missionaries of Charity, (Mother Teresa’s Sisters) are cooperating with the Oblates to do this important work. Fr. Ajit Costa, OMI was appointed to look after the domestic migrants and now Fr. Subash Costa, OMI is the newly appointed person. Myself, Fr. Robi, OMI, Fr. Subash Costa, OMI and other Oblates have from time to time supported this new mission.

In Action: OMI Come & See Program, Bangladesh June 24th, 2025

In the Spirit of the Laudato Si, Fr. Valentine Talang, OMI, Fr. Pius Pohdueng, OMI and 14 young men who have expressed an initial desire to become Oblates and are following the OMI Come & See Program 2025, planted trees on OMI property at London Punjee (village), Lokhipur, Bangladesh.

Fr. Valentine was appointed moderator of the week’s Come & See Program.

Through this program the OMI Bangladesh Delegation recruits college and university students to become Oblates.

The 3rd Session of the Preparatory Committee for the upcoming 4th International Conference on Financing for Development, which takes place in Seville, Spain from June 30 to July 3, 2025.

The 63rd Session of the Commission for Social Development. Attendees at the 63rd Session of the Commission for Social Development, came together under the Priority Theme Strengthening solidarity, social inclusion, and social cohesion to accelerate the delivery of the commitments of the Copenhagen Declaration on Social Development and Programme of Action of the World Summit for Social Development as well as the implementation of the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development.

Frs. Daniel LeBlanc, OMI & Valentine Talang, OMI Attend UN FFD Preparatory Meeting December 9th, 2024

Recently, Fr. Daniel LeBlanc, OMI and I were at the UN in New York City, participating in a Preparatory Committee Meeting for the 4th International Conference on Financing for Development. The Financing for Development conference will take place in June 2025 (Spain).

Fr. Daniel spoke at a side event, “How FfD4 Can Strengthen Funding for Social Protection and Healthcare,” organized by the NGO Committee on Financing for Development (a substantive Committee of the Conference of NGOs in Consultative Relationship with the UN).

Other speakers at this event were Robert Powell (IMF, special representative to the UN), Umberto Cattaneo (ILO, public finance, Actuarial and Statistics Unit Social Protection Department), Lena Simet (Human Rights Watch) and Barry Herman (Social Justice in Global Development).
