Worship Resource for International Eradication of Poverty Day – October 17 July 2nd, 2010
The Spirit of the Lord is upon me because he has anointed me to preach the good news to the poor. He has sent me to proclaim release to the captives and recovery of sight to the blind, to set at liberty those who are oppressed. (Luke 4: 18-19)In 1992, the General Assembly of the United Nations declared 17th October the International Day for the Eradication of Poverty. The JPIC Commission of the USG/UISG aims to promote awareness of the need to eradicate poverty and destitution in all countries, particularly in developing countries. A prayer service was prepared for the Commission by the NGO ‘Social Justice Ireland’. (Download PDF of the prayer service)
OST Students Minister to the Homeless at Haven for Hope April 22nd, 2010
Students from the Oblate School of Theology are taking an active part in the spiritual services on the campus of the Haven for Hope, a non-profit, 22 acre campus in San Antonio, Texas with comprehensive services for the homeless.
On April 26th, after four years of planning and construction, the Haven for Hope will open its doors, hoping to serve as a national-model of opportunities for human transformation.

Oblate US JPIC Committee Gathers in Godfrey, Illinois October 19th, 2009
On October 15 and 16, the United States Province Oblate Justice, Peace and Integrity of Creation (JPIC) committee held a bi-annual strategy meeting in Godfrey, Illinois to review, share progress and discuss how to continue the JPIC work most effectively. Part of the agenda included brief updates from staff from the Washington JPIC office, the Oblate Ecological Initiative based in Godfrey and the General Service office in Rome. Committee members also reported on their JPIC work.
