ECOSOC
The UN Charter authorizes ECOSOC (Economic and Social Council) to consult with NGOs concerned with matters within its competence. ECOSOC recognized that these organizations should have the opportunity to express their views, and that they possess special experience or technical knowledge of value to its work. Under ECOSOC Resolution 1996/31, NGOs may seek and be granted consultative status to facilitate such dialogue.
The Missionary Oblates of Mary Immaculate is not an ECOSOC recognized entity, but rather, we are associate members of VIVAT INTERNATIONAL (VI), which is officially recognized. VIVAT International is made up of several religious congregations who have joined to be recognized as one by ECOSOC.
