Eco-Missions
“We will not be moved to save that which we do not love.”
This is the premise of the Oblate Eco-Missions: two-week-long spiritual experiences and conscious raising events in parishes. The groups formed then become springboards for action to protect the environment.
Over a two-week period, parishioner-participants become more deeply aware that “Heaven and Earth are full of God’s Glory!” Led by Fr. Darrell Rupiper, OMI, the workshops are designed to nourish a sense of awe, wonder, reverence and gratitude for God’s creation.
What was given to us as a paradise - a veritable wonderland - is quickly being turned into a wasteland. We need to counter this by developing a reverence for creation.
In a moving ceremony for people, the story of the unfolding universe, as revealed by science, is taught and made into ritual.
