Immigration
The Missionary Oblates JPIC Office advocates for the dignity and rights of all immigrants. We recognize the call to stand in solidarity with all migrants and immigrants, and especially immigrants on both sides of the U.S./Mexico border. U.S. Oblates have a long history of serving immigrant communities throughout the United States and have appreciated the rich contributions they have made to faith communities and to the country.
Through education and advocacy with our colleagues in Washington at the state level and in local communities, we work to insure that U.S. migration policy is created out of a sense of compassion, respect for human rights, and an acknowledgement of the vital role migrants play in our economy and society.
As a founding member organization of the Border Working Group, the Oblate JPIC Office has worked since 2002 for respect of the human rights and dignity of those who live and cross at the U.S./Mexico Border, as well as for more just immigration policies.
U.S. Oblates actively oppose construction of the U.S./Mexico border wall on social, economic and environmental grounds.
